Lucette
Using original, exclusive prints, silk fabrics and embellished detailing, Lucette is a dress-up box of feathers, beads, and embellished silk – an eclectic boho style that is glamorous, strong and modern. Feminine pieces juxtaposed with hard-edged pieces create a rock romance vibe.
Taken from the Spanish word ‘Luce’ meaning ‘to shine’, Lucette works to enhance a wardrobe with colour and detail while maintaining a modern relaxed style.
Meeting and travelling to lake Como in Italy and visiting the fabric fairs in Milan together years ago, Angela Backshell and Tracy Miller, the creative duo behind the brand Lucette, formed a friendship and the beginnings of a business partnership.
Angela established the “young woman’s fashion floor” for David Jones, buying (and helping launch) Natasha, Alice McCall, Sass and Bide among others, becoming a key influential figure in Australian Fashion at the time. Angela has worked since in various head of design roles.
Graduating from East Sydney tafe with a fashion design diploma over 10 years ago, Tracy stepped straight into the role designing for Pierucci, followed by Marcs and Apparel Group. Gaining skills in all areas of the trade and travelling overseas to international fabric fairs.
Together their combined skills complement each other and they have collaborated to create a fashionably affordable collection.
The girls love to scour thrift stores and markets across the globe to inspire their collections. Working from their studio in Paddington, Sydney, their first collection of Lucette was born. …. “Tripping the light”. …With dresses to swirl around and dance the light fantastic, prices range from $129 for a silk top to $550 for a beaded dress.
Surrounded by contemporaries Alice Mc Call, Cohen et Sabine, Natasha and Shakuhachi their first range has already sold to some of the most desirable boutiques nationwide as well as David Jones.
