Nina Maya

Nina Maya Skrzynski is one of Australia’s most outstanding young designers renowned for creating beautiful, high-end collections with an emphasis on quality, silhouette and finishing. Since the launch of her Nina Maya label in March 2006, the designer has developed a strong following from industry, celebrity and consumers alike, both here in Australia and internationally.

Nina has always had a strong penchant for fashion, completing a design degree, majoring in textiles, at the College of Fine Arts in Sydney, before heading overseas on an internship with a textile firm in London. Nina then relocated to Italy, proving to be the cornerstone of her career – working for a high-end fashion house, Nina was invited to design her own range which they then produced.

Nina returned to Australia to set up her own company and further establish the Nina Maya brand. Taking a stand against disposable fashions that are “in one season and out the next”, Nina’s focus on sustainability and desire to create “investment pieces” has seen the label go from strength-to-strength.

With a strong background in textile and graphics, and having worked as a textile designer in both London and Italy, Nina continues to work tirelessly each season to create her beautiful, unique prints.

Nina continues to develop her skills in design, most recently completing a private study of the specialised technique of Moulage developed by the couturiers in Paris. Nina credits this training with bringing an even stronger focus on technique and structure when it comes to designing her draped and pleated garments, as well as developing her own unique forms of cascade and frills. Nina’s new found learning and growth are clearly evident with the launch of the Nina Maya Essential Line, a collection of wardrobe staples designed to mix and match available in a four tone signature colour palette of cobalt, blush, white and black.
