The Cassette Society

The Cassette Society is the madly popular street-wear love child of alien cowgirls Katie Boyd and Tania Rickards; two lovers of all things flippin’ and flamboyant, crazy and cool, bringing their ‘80s vibe to the d-floor every season.

The Aussie label is a legacy to the girls’ love of ‘80s music, memories and pop culture, ever-obvious in each collection these babes create stemming from the brand’s humble beginnings.

Boyd and Rickards partnered up in early 2007 to design their first collection Technicolour Love, an instant hit that secured stockists both nationally and internationally.  We worldwide!

Come May that same year, the girls were suddenly previewing their second collection at Rosemount Australia Fashion Week – and the rest as they say, is history.

In a few short years The Cassette Society has exploded to over 100 stockists globally, and especially loved locally by General Pants Co. with their thirty-strong stores showing the love each season.  Designers are lining up to collaborate with the duo, with LA-based designer eyewear brand Sabre creating a limited edition The Cassette Society x Sabre sunglasses, and more recently Australian retailer Sportsgirl and Bloom cosmetics designer lines.

Inspired by the twin feminine paradoxes of strong versus pretty, your typical Cassette girl is ‘confident, quirky, tomboyish and utterly sexy.  She is unpredictable, daring at times, and youthful.  She’s got sex and is feminine yet she’s also androgynous’ – an ultra combination of its two heroines, heading up one of Australia’s coolest and quirkiest brands on the scene.
