Flipsters
Good mates since high school days, Sydney boys Ben Lipschitz and Rick Munitz often noticed women’s discomfort from high heel shoes – to the point that some of their female friends would walk barefoot at the end of a night.
With Ben using his Bachelor of Laws (Hons) to help run the business side of things, and Rick putting good use to his degree in Industrial Design, the two decided to do something to help out their high heel toting friends.
Starting with nothing but a good idea and a tonne of ambition, the two set to work creating Flipsters – stylish flip flops which fold to a tiny size, for when high heel pain becomes too much to bear.
Not knowing first hand about high heels or women’s fashion habits, they spent many months conducting focus groups and face to face research in the clubs and pubs of Sydney. They discovered that Flipsters were not only a great idea, but a near life saver.
After a year of hard work they launched their Flipsters product to much fanfare, with multiple Australian television and media appearances, as well as articles in newspapers around the world. Flipsters have been praised for their innovative design, their fantastic comfort despite their small size, and their stylish good looks.
Having re-designed the great Australian flip flop, the two are working on taking Flipsters to the world.
