Brazilian-born Silvia Tavares has lived all over the world. Her time spent in England, the United States and Australia has provided much inspiration for her designs, which reflect the diversities of a life spent across the globe.

Ever since she was a little girl, Silvia has always had a passion for handbags. Since completing a design course at FBI Fashion College in Sydney four years ago, Silvia has undertaken extensive training in leather craftsmanship, launched her own handbag label Kinin in 2008.

Silvia's travel experience has also influenced the details in her designs. All of the handbags have brightly coloured linings to help in those panicked moments spent searching for phones, keys and passports.

Kinin holds a personal place in Silvia's heart - the name is in fact her childhood nickname and each piece represents an item that Silvia herself has created for her own needs over the years. And as for the dragonfly - Silvia's favourite creature might be seen to symbolise the designer herself: always searching for new places, spaces and experiences.
